The City has several construction projects that will upgrade and improve City streets. To minimize construction disruptions, we have developed this website to provide information on the projects and alert travelers to expected traffic disruptions. As construction begins, we will update this site with new information on traffic impacts and detours. Bi-weekly update on street closures, downtown parking, and other events affecting transportation
TIMEFRAME: Monday, September 22nd through Sunday, October 5th
Monday, September 22nd - Mid-October:
Putah Creek Bike Path Closure: The portion of the Putah Creek Parkway Bike Path between West Olive Drive and the tunnel under the railroad tracks will be closed for 3 weeks. This portion of the path is located behind Davis Commons and connects the Arboretum to south Davis.
The closure will affect both bicyclists and pedestrians. During the closure bicyclists and pedestrians will be detoured to the Richards Boulevard undercrossing.
The closure is necessary for the City to perform construction work to shore up the steep slopes on either side of the concrete bike path. The City will be adding decomposed granite shoulders on both sides of the path and post and cable fencing at steep slope areas.
Friday, September 26th:
Davis High School Homecoming Parade: Parade units and floats will be staged on C Street between 3rd and 5th from 11:30 a.m. on. The Homecoming Parade starts at 1:15 p.m. on C Street at 3rd Street. Proposed parade route: 3rd Street east to F Street, north to 4th Street, back to C Street, north on C across 5th Street to 6th Street, west to B Street and north on B Street up to 14th Street and back to Davis High School.
Saturday, September 27th - Sunday, September 28th:
UC Davis Move-In Weekend: Be extra careful for people not familiar with the roads and for cyclists.
Monday, September 29th:
UC Davis Memorial Union Bus Termial: Will reopen. All Unitrans lines will be running again at that time and Yolobus will no longer be serving the temporary bus stops on Russell at Howard Way. The new terminal will be gated such that only transit buses may enter the terminal, so all traffic that does not enter the parking structure will be directed to Tennis Court Lane, to use the new drop off area or continue west to California. All deliveries to the campus will be made via California or Hutchison, as they have done all summer.
Lake Blvd: Work on bike path entrances near Lake Terrace Circle will start no later than Sept 29th and take a couple of weeks, this will patch root damage in bike lanes as well
Wednesday, October 1st:
Discover Davis: Special event at the Farmers Market to introduce UCD freshman to Davis. Expect parking impacts, traffic, and delays around Central Park from 4pm through 8pm.
Thursday, October 2nd:
UC Davis: First day of class. Watch for increased bicycle volumes on city streets.
Saturday, October 4th:
Davis Sunrise Rotary Club Oktoberfest: Under the Farmers Market Pavilion in Davis Central Park. 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Expect parking impacts.
Through October 4th:
Yolo County will begin roadwork on County Road (CR) 32B (Chiles Road in Davis) from the eastern Davis city limit to CR 32A beginning Monday, September 8th through October 14th, with periodic closures to through traffic during this timeframe.
The contractor will temporarily close portions of CR 32B to through traffic in two non-concurrent phases, each expected to last approximately two weeks. The Stage 1 closure will be between the Davis city limit and the west side of the Yolo Fruit Stand driveway. The Stage 2 closure will be on the east side of the eastbound I-80 ramps to the end of the project at CR32A.
Sunday, October 5th:
International Festival: Presented by International House Davis. Noon to 5 p.m. Central Park. Expect parking impacts.
Oak Avenue: Concrete contractor will be working on sidewalks.
Long Term Projects
239 G Street Sidewalk Closure
Through December: 239 G Street The sidewalk along Third St, east of the alley, will be closed and parking closed until sometime in December the sidewalk on G St will have intermittent closures for public safety during the same period.
Third Street Utility Undergrounding
Third Street Utility Undergrounding Impacts: Construction between A Street and B Street will continue through September/October. Expect road closures, construction equipment, and removal of on-street parking.
UC Davis Memorial Union Terminal Closure
UC Davis Memorial Union Terminal Closure: The terminal will be closed to all traffic for the entire summer for re-construction (through September 28). There will be new temporary bus stops set up for Yolobus on Russell at Howard Way during construction, and their buses will be stopping on Russell during that time. All Unitrans buses (and Solano Express / Fairfield and Suisun Transit) will be at the Silo Terminal or Art Building on Hutchison Drive.
D Street Partial Parking & Sidewalk Closures
D Street Partial Parking & Sidewalk Closures: Several parking spots on D Street and the sidewalk will be closed due to construction at the Coldwell Banker property at Second & D Streets.
501 Second Street: Will continue to be under construction.
Cannery (1111 E. Covell Blvd.): Cannery construction will continue for a long time impacts will continue to be high truck traffic.

Where: 21 areas throughout the city, starting at B and Sixth streets. Multiple crews will work simultaneously.
